National News: The painful terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir has shocked the entire country. The attack on April 22 killed 26 innocent people, including women, elderly and children. After this attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi instantly decided to return to India from Saudi Arabia after hearing about the attack. As soon as he reached Delhi, he called an emergency meeting with the National Security Advisor, Foreign Minister and Foreign Secretary at the airport itself.
Prime Minister Modi was participating in bilateral talks with Mohammed bin Salman (crown prince) in Jeddah. As soon as he came to know about the Pahalgam terror attack, he immediately decided to cancel the official dinner organized by the Saudi government and return to India.
On returning to Delhi, the Prime Minister at the airport, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, External Affairs Minister S.K. A foremost emergency meeting with jaishankar and foreign secretary vikram. It reviewed the initial input and security measures associated with the attack.
The attack took place at a major tourist destination in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where the terrorists fired indiscriminately. The attack killed 26 people and injured more than 20. The attack is considered to be the biggest terrorist attack after the 2019 Pulwama attack.
The separatist organisation and numerous political parties of Jammu and Kashmir called for a complete bandh in the agitation against attack. Business organizations and civil society also supported the bandh, and strongly condemned the terrorist attack.
Prime Minister Modi termed the attack as a "cowardly act" and said that it would be given a befitting reply. He assured the country that security agencies are cautious and the culprits will soon be brought to their end.
